Last weekend I got sucked into The City marathon on MTV.   Having watched one episode of The Hills and avoiding it like the plague since, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy The City.   Perhaps it’s because Whitney Port is more likeable than the others but I found myself hooked for the afternoon and have faithfully set my DVR to record the new season.

One of the main reasons I enjoy the show (other than all the drama!) is the behind the scenes look it provides of the NYC fashion world.  Also, I love watching to see what Olivia Palermo is wearing next.   Known as a socialite prior to joining The City, she was previously famous for showing up on Page Six.  She’s now doing the ‘what am I wearing feature?’ for Vogue UK and working at Elle magazine as the Accessories Editor.   She’s always impeccably turned out, almost too done.   I’d like to see her look a little messy, perhaps she’d seem more real and less bitchy.   I’m not sure if she’s really that way or just edited to appear that way.  Makes for great TV though!

Talbots New (J)Crew?

I recently stumbled upon Talbots Fall 2010 lookbook and I had to check the URL.  Whoever is designing at Talbots these days has really upped the ante.  Gorgeous leopard prints, really interesting shapes and styling vaguely reminiscent of Ms. Jenna Lyons (of JCrew for those scratching their heads).

Love the yellow jacket with the patterned top and cropped jeans.

This leopard coat is gorgeous and  I wish I could pull off that hat

There are no words…

For those who can’t wait until Fall, you may have to pass the time with some of their Spring 2010 looks.

Not only does Talbots have stores across the country but they also ship to Canada!

The Bay

For those in the Toronto area, I highly recommend a trip to The Bay.   They have undergone extensive renovations at many of their stores and while the decor is fab, the product mix is even better.  On a quick trip into the Queen Street store, I spotted Pink Tartan, Botkier, Badgley Mischka and Halston Heritage, which recently named  Sarah Jessica Parker as it’s Creative Director.

Helmed by Bonnie Brooks (who revitalized Holt Renfrew back in the day) the store looks amazing and has brought another luxury retailer (sorry Holt Renfrew) to Toronto.   Recently Ms. Brooks re-launched The Room which is a 21,500 sq. foot fashionista’s dream.   Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the space has won the Retail Design Institute’s prestigious Room of the  Year award (you can see why when you take a look at the photos).

Feeling inspired, I wandered around the Accessories department and fell in love…. The Halston Heritage folder over leather clutch.   Gorgeous!   The embossed leather signature H pattern makes it interesting and unique.   I’m hoping for an expanded accessories line soon!
